Bulk vs “Pre Cut” PPF.. Featuring 2024 Tesla Model Y Performance
With film being revolutionized more and more as the years go by, so have installation methods.. the biggest debate in todays industry, Bulk or Precut PPF? Both have their disadvantages and advantages when it comes to film cost , efficiency, and most important of all. End Product. Typically “precut” PPF will be laser cut through a plotter to line up within body lines of edges. However depending on the color of the car , these edges will become more unpleasantly visible over time will start to collect debris, dirt, grime and tar which is inevitable because the edge of the PPF is short to tuck/hide. Even after each wash/detail you are slowly picking at the edge of the film which will lose its ability to adhere fully in the long run. Because of the unpleasant results and lack of longevity, with any “precut” panels we install , we go into the software template and completely redesign the pattern to FULLY WRAP AROUND every edge and corner. Technically it becomes a semi “bulk” install since we will then handcut every edge and corner but we assure you that it will be the cleanest approach for 100% hidden PPF. We do bulk larger panels such as hoods, roofs , and trunks and even bumpers to avoid seams ! A perfect example would be this Tesla Model Y. Down below you will see what a pattern would consist of on the front bumper, with the seam towards the bottom of the fog lights. Also a precut hood panel would leave the emblem cut out exposed along with the mirrors that wont provide full coverage..
With the many years of experience of PPF , we are able to discuss with you which items can be “bulked” to eliminate seams, and how we will do so , for example the bumper we bulked and completed it in one whole piece not only for longevity but it will also look amazing for the years to come with no edges showing up or pulling back.

Same can be said for the hood where in this case we completely remove the T badge to ensure that the PPF is fully tucked underneath then we go ahead and reinstall a new badge. We remove the necessary items in order to achieve the cleanest look for your film installation, meaning that we will definitely not be the fastest shop you will visit since our priority is quality but we can assure you that we will take our time and wrap every single square inch possibly in a cleanly matter which will outweigh having a fast turn around time.
